There is effort underway to put together a Bates Reunion this year August 19-21.  The following is from David Bates and Vickie DeGraffenried:

Quote
Hi cousins, it’s been 20 years and a few of us have been saying its time to get together again and we agree.

Vicky has been doing some research and the church camp we went to 20 years ago is available again. The dates we’re picked are Thursday Aug 19th to Saturday the 21th. This is come in on the afternoon of the 19th and leave on that Saturday afternoon. The cost is $350 for the camp and $300 per day for insurance no matter how many come. We think right now that trailers and RV’s are fine. That gives us two nights and almost three days together. If we want to cut it down some it can be come in Friday and out Saturday. If we have 60 people coming we’re down to $32.50 per person for the three days plus food.

Once we know that we’re on for the reunion and how many are coming we can start talking about an agenda. But for now I guarantee lots of fun and catch up time.

We inviting all us cousins and our families even though we know some of our children are maybe too involved in jobs and kids.

So we can keep this going please get back to me by next Sunday 11th and let me know if you’re coming, how many, and if you want Thursday through Saturday or Friday to Saturday.

I have failed to keep up in a timely manner with posts that have been showing up here lately.  For that, I want to apologize.  There has been some additional activity as of late which I am not used to!  I will be checking in on a more regular basis.  I am notified of new registration requests so I respond to those immediately.

I want to reiterate that I greatly appreciate any contributions from descendants of Oliver Bates.  Any stories or documentation that you can share would be wonderful.  I am currently looking into a picture gallery for the site so that we can get more pictures on and allow contributions.

I think I'm already registered, but if not, I'd like an invitation.  I need to contact other interested researchers.  Thanks, Sandy

I am having a difficult time trying to find conclusive proof to satisfy the DAR that Cyrus Bates is the son of Oliver Bates & Rebecca Hart. Can anyone help me?
Thank you,
Jane Cote
